Teeter Takes TETAC’s Highest Honor
From CGCSA’s “The Show Times”
Jake Teeter, from Winding Creek Golf Club in Thomasville, NC, is this year’s winner of the Bill Ledford Award from the Turf Equipment Technicians Association of the Carolinas (TETAC). The award for the Turf Equipment Technician of the Year was presented at TETAC’s annual business meeting yesterday.
Teeter was nominated by Allen Crockett, certified golf course superintendent at Winding Creek. The Bill Ledford Award is presented in partnership with TSP.
“Over the years Jake has been the equipment manager here at Winding Creek, he has
taken on many roles. Equipment manager first and foremost,” Crockett says. “He has also taken on the role of assistant, fund raiser, promoter, problem solver and scrounger.”
“He is part of the grounds crew taking on mowing when things are slow in the shop and even when they aren’t slow. He is out mowing greens and fairways when needed. When parts are difficult to find or too expensive, Jake will get online to find a cheaper price or a replacement for the part. He does a great job looking after the bottom line.”
Crockett also cited Teeter’s efforts to support The Mayors Cup, an annual charity fundraiser at the club, by “going out into the community to solicit sponsors.” “Jake is a valued asset here at Winding Creek … beyond being a great mechanic!”
Yesterday’s meeting elected Chad Kintzer, from The Dunes Club at Myrtle Beach, SC as TETAC president for the next three years. He takes over from Daniel Barnes, from Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head, SC.
